FIRST CIRCULAR

THE FIRST CONGRESS OF SERBIAN GEOGRAPHERS

April-мај 2006

We are glad to inform you that the Executive Board of the
Serbian Geographical Society, upon the suggestion of the Initiating
Committee of the Congress, at the Session held on June 17th 2005, has
enacted the Decision upon which THE FIRST CONGRESS OF SERBIAN GEOGRAPHEERS
will take place in April 2006.

Goals and criteria of the Congress

1.    The main goal of the First Congress of Serbian Geographers is review
and synthesis of the results of scientific and teaching work in geography
(as well as in interdisciplinary fields related to geography), obtained in
Serbia during the present period of transition and scientific-technological
revolution, with revalorization of the permanent values of the scientific
heritage.

2.    In accordance with the main goal, the Congress will pay special
attention to the relations between the acquired level of development of the
scientific and teaching geography in Serbia and in leading regional and
national scientific-teaching centres in closer and wider surroundings. This
will refer both to theoretic-methodological and social-practical plan, with
particular reference to the significance of geographic logic and geographic
knowledge in educational process.

3.    Concept of the Congress encompasses as wide international
participation as possible, so the organizer will take care to animate the
participants from foreign scientific centres.

4.    The work of the Congress is not of a display character, which means
that the Scientific Committee of the Congress takes responsibility of
ranging and systematization of the registered presentations, as well as to
determine the mediators for certain subjects, if needed.
